About

Planning software built from the plant floor and the optimization literature.

Slate builds planning optimization for refiners. The work starts from how planners and modelers actually use their models, and from the methods that make large models solvable.

02Principles

How we work.

Models should be inspectable.
If a planner cannot see why the model chose something, the model is not finished.
Answers should be in dollars.
Margin is the common language between planning, operations, and management.
Migration should be verified.
Trust comes from running side by side and explaining every difference.
Reliability is a requirement.
A model that solves only from a good starting point is not ready for production planning.
